Can you see “lemons” as “lemonade in disguise”?

When all seems to be doom and gloom, there are still positive possibilities; you just have to look for them. Too often, we only see the negatives.
Learn to look at every difficult situation as a present; the gift within is the possibilities it holds. For example, a couple buys a rundown house. They see the house as it could be, not as it is. What they see is the “possibility”.
Or, you may lose your job. The “possibility” is you can focus your full energy on changing careers, or finding a job in an area you’ve always wanted.
If you focus on the possible when you experience difficult situations you can positively change your outlook, reduce your stress, and concentrate on achieving things that otherwise may not have been possible.

How Blogging Impacts Mainstream Marketing

by: Simon Townley

Because I’m a journalist and copywriter who also reads and writes blogs, people who don’t use the Internet as much as I do have started to ask me some searching questions of late. Some of them sound worried.
They have heard a lot about blogging and the impact it could have on traditional marketing.
One person even asked me (perhaps a little concerned) if PR teams will be replaced with bloggers. I don’t see it, I reassured them.
PR is also about managing people and that will always be important. The mainstream media isn’t about to disappear, and the majority of the population probably couldn’t care less about blogs. For all the hype, blogging should be seen as a potential addition to a marketing portfolio.
The place blogging may have its biggest impact is on areas of the trade press.
There is a revolution in publishing taking place, sparked by the new forms of advertising such as Google ad sense. This has made it possible for someone running a blog site, with a staff of one and overheads of almost nothing, to start earning a living from their publishing.
If the blogger can get readers, then Google places the ads (relevant to the content) – and you have a publishing business. This gives a lot of people an incentive to provide great content – so that they get more readers, and more money from ads.
It’s just like the traditional press, but without the need for offices, advertising sales teams, HR departments etc.
This works best in niche areas. Soon, there may not be much need for magazines about new gadgets, or mobile phones, or ride-on-lawn mowers or whatever. Because the blogs have it covered, providing more up-to-date information and readers who are ready to buy – and can simply click on the advert.
The everyday bloggers have a new-found power and are not about to go away. Some blogs now get millions, even tens of millions of readers a day. They are rivalling the mainstream media – and if the US government can’t control them, what chance does a small company or even a big enterprise have?
Companies and blogs
It’s still pretty early days for companies using blogs, and the whole thing is evolving. It will probably settle down into one more piece in the jigsaw, another communication channel that companies can use.
The style used in company blogs needs to be less “written by committee” and more personal and spontaneous.
Companies that try to use too much subterfuge in the blogging world are exposing themselves to a potential backlash. There’s a great emphasis on honesty in the blogging world – for example bloggers will often end a post with a “disclosure” note which mentions any conflict of interest.
At a simple level, blogging can be seen as simply another way of publishing information on the Internet. It’s useful because it is so fast and it’s easy to get a range of people involved quite quickly.
However, there are real skills involved to good blogging. Not only does the writing have to be engaging, colourful, funny, informative etc, but the writer also needs to take account of search engine optimisation techniques – which basically means using the right keywords to ensure the blog shows up in the search engines.
At it’s most sophisticated, blogging is being used to create “viral marketing” campaigns – to create a “buzz” around a product as though this were coming from ordinary people. This is a whole new field of marketing / advertising…

What Business Cards Can Do For You

There are proven ways on how to attract a customer to a certain business. Most of the businessmen do this by putting up a marketing campaign in the streets, malls or just by approaching a stranger.
In this way, new contacts may be achieved everyday, which might open up and boost your sales. A person who has been part of your services may refer you to someone who needs your services.

Now if you are a business person and do a lot of marketing by traveling around, the best thing you can do is to carry a business card. You encounter different kinds of people everyday, so always bring with you a business card that you can hand over to them.
Just by giving a small talk about your services, the business cards will play an important role when you part ways. In the future, that person might need your services in the future and by means of business cards, he may be able to reach you with the details and information written on it.
Business cards are used by most of the people either in small or big time business. Its gives a reflection about the person carrying it, and it gives the people an idea of his capabilities. Having an elegantly printed business card will save you from writing your contact details on a piece of scratch paper.
It is always easy to print your own business cards. You can even do it at home if you have your computer and printer. However, if you do not have a single idea on how to start doing it, why waste time when you can hand over the job to printing companies?
This will save your time and will keep you from worrying on how your printed business will look like. Printing companies will perfectly give you unique business cards that will reflect your identity.
In doing so, you must choose a good printing company that specializes in business card printing. There are numerous printing companies in your area but only a few specializes in business card printing.
You need to get a printing company that can settle all your promotional needs through business cards and you will soon find out that it is worth the money and the wait.

Keep the Tension Tight

During the 2006 winter Olympics, Lindsey Jacobellis was alone in the clear, and could have practically crawled to the finish line and won. After an Olympic-sized flub, she probably wishes she had. Coasting to what should have been a runaway victory to a gold metal, the 20-year-old American grabbed her snowboard on the second-to-last jump before the finish line. Inexplicably — and some say inexcusably — she fell. Why??? A few hours later, in a conference call she revealed that there might have been some showboating going on. “I was having fun,” she said. “Snowboarding is fun. I was ahead. I wanted to share my enthusiasm with the crowd. I messed up. Oh well, it happens.”

Last weekend I was flying a kite with my six year old daughter. The wind was gusting and the kite was flying with little help from us. All of sudden, it started to spiral down to the ground. Why? Simple. We let go of the string.
What do these two stories have in common? Tension. If Lindsey had kept the tension tight she might not have come tumbling to the ground like our kite

There are areas in our life where we need to keep the tension tight if we hope to reach our potential. That potential might be as wonderful and memorable as an Olympic gold metal, or as basic as spending time being a hero to your daughter. Either way, I don’t think we will ever reach our potential if we don’t keep the following in check.
If we peel back a few layers of the word focus we are able to see some very helpful ideas. Ideas such as Faith, Opportunity, Consistency, Understanding, and Self-talk. Each of these concepts could take volumes to explain in detail, but are briefly explored below.

  • Faith – In order to reach your personal and professional goals you must have faith in yourself. You must be willing to take calculated risks without looking back. Very few people ever accomplished great things if they didn’t first have faith in themselves. You must also have faith that God is your safety net, that helping hand, that guiding light in the darkest of nights.
  • Opportunity – In our world today many are still searching for that “get-rich-quick” scheme. I have found that true accomplishments are achieved because of being in the right place, at the right time, with the right experience, and a willingness to do the job. In order to reach your goals you must continue to focus on preparing for that next opportunity. For instance, by reading one book a month, for twelve consecutive months (on any one subject), you will be better prepared than most of the people you work with, worship with, and compete against.
  • Consistency – It has been said that success is found in your daily agenda. My personal trainer has told me many times how important consistency is to better health and a stronger body. Questions for you to consider… Are you consistently putting 100% into everything you do? Are you consistently following a plan of action (a game plan)? Are you consistently planning for tomorrow, today (goals)? Are you consistently taking time to refocus your life?
  • Understanding – In order to be successful you must understand your limits. You are simply not going to be good at everything, and the things that you are good at are limited to your skill level. A good example of this is my tennis game. Not long ago I was playing a singles match, a match I was losing badly. During one of the breaks I said to myself, “Jeff, just have fun and play within your game.” What I meant was enjoy the day, and hit only the shots that I knew would go in. To my surprise, and my opponent’s as well, I began to play tremendous tennis. I was having fun and was soon hitting shots with confidence (faith). Remember, work, play, and live within your limits. If you stay focused long enough those limits will expand.
  • Self-talk – In the world of psychology this is also known as self-fulfilling prophecy. In other words, what you and others say to you will more than likely happen. As mystical as this sounds it really is true. I challenge you to keep a log for a few days of all the positive and negative comments you and others say about you; don’t forget your thoughts. If you are like most people, by the end of the challenge you will have many more negatives than positives. I can’t tell you how important it is to say to yourself, “I can do it, I am great, I can get that sale, I can live a Christian life, I can hit that shot, etc.” Just like the little train going up the mountain, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.”

In order to reach new levels personally and professionally, you must stay focused. I encourage you to spend one afternoon this week contemplating what you are currently focusing on.
With schedules packed more than ever. Microwaves not being fast enough. Paying for your gasoline at the pump so you don’t have to go in the store. Who has time to learn? If you are going to keep moving forward in your life you must make time to learn. Some of the best ways to learn are…
• Reading books.
• Watching people – you might be surprised at what you can learn by sitting on a bench at your local shopping mall and observing the people going by.
• Dreaming (using the power of your mind).
• Giving (of your time and talent)
In order to keep growing you must manage your daily agenda. Your daily agenda is managed with good time management techniques. The real question is… “Are you the master of your time, or is it the master of you?” The following concepts will help you maximize the twenty-four hours that God has given you today:
• Establish measurable goals and plans
• Know how to invest your time
• Identify and eliminate time wasters
• Know yourself and your priorities
• Take time to set and evaluate goals
• Learn to say, “No”
• Delegate, delegate, and delegate
• Group similar and like activities together
• Organize for quick and easy retrieval
• Use a calendar and a to-do list.
On August 3, 2005, Anika Logan described in her article entitled, “Laughter is good for you.”
Laughter is more than just an enjoyable activity. It is very beneficial to the body and mind. It doesn’t cost a cent and it is highly contagious. But is laughter really the best medicine? Read on and decide for yourself.
Everyone enjoys a good laugh, don’t they? If they don’t, they should! Laughter has many benefits, which in turn have positive effects on the human body. Laughter lowers blood pressure, activates the immune system, triggers the release of endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers), reduces stress hormones, helps reduce pain, allows muscles to relax and is helpful for breathing as frequent laughter empties the air in the lungs. And that’s just the beginning!
Remember, keep the tension tight and the priorities right, and you will accomplish more than you ever dreamed.

3 Marketing Myths that are Stopping you Succeed!

by: Lee Lister – The Biz Guru

These 3 marketing myths can cause you to lose sales if you base your marketing decisions on them. We’ve given you some marketing tips to blast each myth and boost your sales.
Myth 1: People buy a product at the cheapest price they can find.

That is not true – if it was then companies like Rolex and would not exist – Timex would have put them out of business a long time ago. Despite the ease of research that the internet affords – buyers are generally lazy and don’t undertake full research. Even on eBay where it is far easier to check the relative prices of a product – people often buy a product at a higher price than they could. So what causes people to buy? These are called buying triggers – the most common are:
• Confidence in the seller
• A high perceived value
• Recommendations
• Ease of purchase
Blasting Myth 1:
Establish your credentials – for example we have over 20 years of business consultancy experience – so we know what works and what does not work in a business.
Find ways of enhancing the perceived value of your product or service by adding extras or clearly demonstrating the value of it’s purchase.
Ensure that you include some actual recommendations within your sales letter.
Make it easy to purchase and receive your product by not introducing any barriers to purchase such as extra forms, obscure or complex payment methods.
Myth 2: Offering your customers numerous different options will boost your sales
When confronted with several options, most customers have difficulty making a decision. They often react by procrastinating – and going to a seller who offers a clearer product. Now by this we don’t say add extras or up sells, just clearly state what is included in the product and don’t offer options that not only confuse but making your selling and processing more difficult.
The human mind works better when offered the two options “buy”, “don’t buy”.
Blasting Myth 2:
Only offer one product – or product package per page. You can have a clear (and short) menu on each page to encourage multiple purchases.
If you have more than one option for a product or service – then give them different names and present them each separately. For example you can call them “silver service”, “gold service”, “opal service” etc. This is what we did with our various marketing services and it works quite well.
You should always aim at a small, easily understood product or service range. You should be able to explain each of your products in one or two sentences. If you can’t do this – how do you expect your potential buyers to understand what they are buying?
Myth 3: Everybody Needs My Product or Service
Unfortunately, most people don’t believe that they do need a particular service of product. Obviously with items such as Ipods – your teenager will try and tell you they really, really, really need one, but this is peer pressure that has been built up with millions of dollars. Much of this was spent on research into what there market wanted – and they got it right!
If you believe this myth then you also believe that you can succeed without doing much marketing or selling. Unfortunately, despite what some marketers tell you – it does not happen that way. Undoubtedly there some very successful marketers around, but they will all admit that a great deal of market research, testing and reviewing of their offerings – happened before they became successful.
Building a successful business is hard work – most of it devoted to finding potential customers and then matching them with your products and services. Even if most people can use your product or service, you still need a marketing strategy to reach them and a persuasive sales message to close sales – because you can bet your last dollar – that where there a lots of potential customers – there are just as many sellers.
Blasting Myth 3:
• Do your homework – find out where your potential customers are, what particular needs and desires they have and what they are seeking to solve these.
• Look for a narrowly defined niche market where your product or service will solve a unique need of the customers.
• Design your product or service to meet these needs.
• Test, Change, Test, Refine, Test and obtain customer feedback.
Unless you are one of the millionaire marketers around – you will find many myths that you follow and potentially lose money on. Hopefully the ones above have helped you.

3 Innovative Ways To Build An Optin Email List That Stands Above The Crowd

With so many optin email lists out there, your really need to come up with a hook to attractive subscribers. It needs to have something special or different. It could be something you offer inside every newsletter issue, like interviews with experts. Or the hook could be a unique incentive that website vistors can take advantage of immediately when they sign up.
Here are 3 ideas you can use for your own sites, or use as inspiration to get you thinking a little outside of the box:
Build an Optin Email List by Creating a Private Members Only Site or Section —
Create a private web site and have people sign up to get free, immediate access. For example, you could say, “Subscribe to our free e-zine and get free access to our private membership web site!” You can choose to have them receive a username and password every time they want to login, or you can just provide a link to the site in your welcome email.
Your private members only site can be as big or as small as you want. Some of the things you can include inside are: reports, software, articles, ebooks, etc. Inside the site, you can advertise your affiliate programs, as well. And you can follow-up to let them know about updates, new products they might be interested in, the latest news in your industry, etc.
— Build an Optin Email List By Giving Subscribers a Free, Tangible Gift —
Instead of offering a free ebook (or a whole package of them) like most everybody else, promise to give your visitors something they can hold in their hands if they give you their contact information.
For example, you could say “Subscribe today and get our new report mailed to you via First Class.” You could print out your report on standard 8 x 11 sheets of paper, fold it up, put it inside an envelope, and mail it off.
Or you can offer a tips booklet and mail it to new subscribers. Or you can create your own CD full of information targeted toward your market and mail that. Or if you have a wholesale supply of a product of interest to your subscribers, then you can send one to each new subscriber. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Follow-up possibilities include: articles (your own or written by others), tips you pick up, news in your niche, reviews of products or other interested, related websites, etc.
— Build an Optin Email List Through a Contest or Sweepstakes —
Hold a free contest or sweepstakes at your website where they must give their contact information, including their email address, to enter. Make the prize something that your niche market will be interested in. Otherwise, they’ll never want to enter.
If you already have an ezine up and running, you could offer free automatic entry for new subscribers. For example, you could say, “Subscribe to our free newsletter and get automatic entry into our contest.” You’ll also want to retroactively include current subscribers.
You can announce the winner(s) at the end, as well as send any new contest announcements or product announcements. Or you can make this an ongoing contest, where you give away the same thing to one (or more) lucky people every month. That way you’ll entice many subscribers to stay on your list.
You can find niche products to give away through wholesalers or dropshippers. Or you can create it yourself. One of my favorite ways to do this is create a CD-Rom with a guide or report (or sometimes several) that my niche market will find interesting.
Once again, you can follow-up with tips, articles, news, new product announcements, or just an announcement of each monthly winner(s).
Hopefully, now I’ve inspired you to take some action or encouraged ideas of your own with these tips. Any idea, the more popular it gets, requires you to think outside the box every now and then in order to be effective. Building an optin email list is no different. And with newsletters and ezines saturating the Internet day by day, you need to offer something a little different to make them want to sign up to yours. Or you’ll just end up getting left behind.

Are You Protected from the Negatives Associated with Layoffs?

Sign of the times…..sad, but true. People have to do something to position themselves to avoid the negatives that come out of a general corporate layoff.

This is a response I wrote on Facebook to a post I read yesterday about a general layoff at the company I retired from 8 years ago:

“Sorry to hear about the general layoff @ Anadarko Petroleum Corp yesterday. I have a lot of good friends who are effected by it – both those let go & those remaining who have to carry on.

To those let go, I wish them well in their new endeavors – a door closes & another door opens. Keep on, keeping on & good things will happen.

To those staying, best wishes for the future – a commodity as valuable as crude won’t be down forever.”

The Best Toys for Your Dogs

Dogs are a major status symbol in American pet-keeping. Every year, over 12 billion dollars have been spent on dog food and veterinary care alone. According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association’s 2003-2004 Pet Owners’ Survey, more than half of dog owners purchase toys for their dogs.
Playing with toys is not the monopoly of little kids but also pets of different kind. Dogs have their own sets of toys to enjoy during their playing time.
Dogs benefit from these toys, health and training wise. There are dog toys that can strengthen their teeth or build their intelligence especially if they also attend a series of training classes with the experts. Like man, dogs are very sociable. Interaction with their companion or a sibling dog is very important in avoiding behavioral problems in the future.
When buying toys for your dog, you may want to match them with your dog’s needs, demands and even personality. Is your dog the type that enjoys chasing and retrieving games, or chewing, sitting and sprawling? You may want to try experimenting first to find out which toys make your dogs the happiest.
Before going on a toy hunt, take a look at this list of toys that may help you identify the right kind of toy for your dog:
* CHEW TOYS. These are perfect for the dog that likes to chew a lot. Instead of your dog chewing your furniture, why not buy these TOUGH little babies for them. These types of dog toy are usually made of nylon or latex rubber.

“King Kong Toys” are among the popular brands of chew toys. You can experiment by stuffing these toys with peanut butter or cheese spread, freeze them and give them to your dog for hours of licking and chewing fun.

Doggie “potato chips” is also a favorite. These “edible chips” can last to a minimum of an hour to a couple of days. They are available in different shapes like pig ears, snouts, cow knuckles, femurs, hooves and bully sticks. Others are bone-shaped made from a variety of vegetables such as carrots.
Rawhide chews are non- consumable, mummified skin-like toy that you have to throw away when they get soggy, and give your dog a new one. Some rawhides are basted with a variety of flavorings. Be sure to get the “USA rawhide” with a little flag sticker on the label because these do not contain preservative flavorings that are harmful for your dogs.
*SQUEAKY TOYS. For these toys, choose the rubber over the stuffed toys for durability and to avoid synthetic materials. These little noisemakers are good for training your dog’s hunting skills.
*RETRIEVING TOYS. These are perfect for the chase-and-retrieve types of dogs. Dogs enjoy these toys because they get to play with you. Frisbees and balls made specifically for this activity, are the best to be used. Your dog will get a good workout and so is your arm.
*TUG TOYS. These toys are best for dogs that like to grab hold and never let go. Available in rope-like designs.
*BRAIN TEASERS. Best for dogs that is left alone a lot. “Biscuit balls” and “food cubes” are great examples. These toys require the dog to solve types of puzzle in order to get a treat.
Various toys of these forms are available in the market:
1. For Chewers of all Sizes
SQUIRREL DUDE – tough, durable and fun too; this hollow rubber chew toy takes on a new level in innovation; this helps to exercise your dog’s jaw a little more with the four little rubber prongs blocking the hole slightly that the dog has to work a little harder to get the goodies out.
2. Retrieve Toys:
FRISBEES – is an all-time favorite dog toy especially the soft version; fold to fit in a pocket; comes in blue and orange colors, size six to nine inches, prices at $11 -$16.
THE ROUND ORBEE – a tough ball hallowed with ½ inch thick membraney surface and it’s softish; it is flexible, durable, grippy, bouncy, and buoyant and has a peppermint scent; good for sniffing-and-getting-the- ball game; prices at $5 – $12, depending on the size and form you choose
3. Squeaky Toys:
SQUEAKERS – available in packages of ten each; dogs that love to silence squeakers are the best for this toy; excellent as attention and pocket squeaker as well; prices go lower if you buy in packages, from $3 – $5/box/package.
4. Tug Toys:
LEATHER TUGS – great for tug-of-war games with your dog; made of high grade leather, 3/8 inches thick, tanned and not-treated; dogs like them a lot especially those with active lifestyle.
THE MONGO FETCH TOY – a chew and tug toy combined in one; the natural rubber bar is vanilla scented; rope running through the center gives you a grip for tug games and the soft tasseled ends are made for exciting action with your dogs; medium to large in size, from $5 – $7 each.
5. Brain Teasers:
I CUBE – this is a toy that challenges and develops your dog’s intelligence and puzzle solving skills; be sure you are there for supervision; available in junior and jumbo sizes, $6 – $11.
DUCK EGG BABY – egg Babies are a plush toy with three squeaker eggs inside; there is an opening on the bottom of the toy so your dog can get the hidden treasures inside; this is a toy that challenges and develops your dog’s intelligence and puzzle solving skills too.
Toys are a fun way to enjoy with your dog in a sunny day at the park. But be sure to apply proper safety measures especially when playing with balls, sticks and stones. You do not want to harm them in any way. Remember, this is a dog-eat-dog world! Even something as harmless as playing can cause irreparable damage to your dog.

New Strategy On How To Slash Your Pay-Per-Click Advertising Cost By Half Immediately

So what is Pay-Per-Click Advertising really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about Pay-Per-Click Advertising–info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

Here’s a simple keyword building technique I use to find the maximum possible variations of a keyword phrase. I use it predominantly for bidding on keywords at Google Adwords, however it can also be very useful for building lists for use in search engine optimization.

For example let’s use the phrase “horses for sale”. Here’s how the various permutations of this keyword phrase would look. I use the free Keyword Tumbler tool for doing this.

horses for sale
horses sale for
for horses sale
for sale horses
sale horses for
sale for horses

As you can see there are a maximum of six possible ways a three word phrase could be entered into a search engine.

Now you need to find out if these permutations are actually being searched for. This is where the Wordtracker service comes into its own. Click here to get a free Wordtracker trial.

Go to Wordtracker now and in the “Keyword Universe” choose the database called “Precise”.

Then in the right hand panel enter the six different keyword combinations, and hit the “Proceed” button.

Wordtracker now tells us that out of our six combinations, two of them appear in its database (NOTE: at the time of writing it did). They are…

horses for sale
for sale horses

You might be thinking that you could have figured this out for yourself. But its vital that you understand you need to stop second-guessing markets and users behaviors based on your own opinions and assumptions. Use these tools like Wordtracker to actually tell you how the markets are behaving.

I have sometimes found three and four phrase permutations using this method. Phrases that to me appeared “stupid” if entered in the search engines… but someone, somewhere is doing it! This why you need to do this step and NOT guess the permutations.

Also searchers sometimes enter a keyword phrase using the “space” and the “+” sign. E.G. “1 2 3” can be entered in as “1+2+3” and also “1 +2 +3”. This is great tip if you want to use your keyword lists on Google Adwords.

So taking our example keyword phrase lets see how many permutations we can now generate.

horses for sale
for sale horses

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

horses +for +sale
for +sale +horses

Now let’s use misspellings to come up with even more keyword combinations. A great tool for this is Misspelled Keywords.

Simply enter “horses for sale” and select from six ways to find misspellings. Dictionary lookup, keyboard mistakes, trim first/last character, swap character, double characters, and… add ‘s’ ending.

For this example I only selected the “dictionary lookup” and “keyboard mistakes”. The tool returned 1360 possible misspelling combinations. If I’d used all the selections, it would have come back with over 8500. Just for one phrase!

Now let’s enter these misspellings into Wordtracker’s Precise database like we did above. The results? Wordtracker returns the following (NOTE: at the time of writing):

horses foe sale
horses fpr sale
horses for sail
horses for slae

Which now get turned into twelve new terms:

horses foe sale
horses fpr sale
horses for sail
horses for slae

horses +foe +sale
horses +fpr +sale
horses +for +sail
horses +for +slae

Finally you are going to want to join the words together, so “horses for sale” becomes “horsesforsale”, and yes this appeared in the Wordtracker database.

Using the method of keyword generation outlined above, what started out as one keyword phrase, “horses for sale” has now turned into 19 keyword phrases you can use on Google Adwords. Phrases that are actually being used by surfers in the search engines.

So there you have it, how to build adgroups which are TIGHTLY focused on the keyword phrase you are wanting to bid on.

You can’t predict when knowing something extra about Pay-Per-Click Advertising will come in handy. I wish that this will benefit you very much.

Tips to a Profitable Home Business Plan!

Home based businesses can be ideal if they are set up and maintained properly. The following are a set of tips to de-mystify the process of setting up a home business, and running it smoothly. Everyone considering this type of undertaking should arm themselves with lots of solid advice.

Take regular breaks throughout your day, but don’t get distracted by the home environment. Don’t begin complicated home improvement projects or take long, personal calls. Take active breaks to refresh your body and mind, for example a bit of exercise or work in your garden.

Unless you live alone, be considerate of the others in your household. Don’t let your work take over common spaces or invade someone else’s personal area. Don’t treat your roommates or family like employees. Make your needs known, but remember that this space is a home first and an office second.

Even though you are working at home, it is important that you establish a proper business schedule. By making a proper schedule and sticking to it you are showing others that you are serious about what you are doing. It also shows them that you can be reliable and dependable.

To reduce distractions keep your office off limits to children. Have set work hours that enable you to run your business and still have time for your family. Older children should understand not to disturb you while you are working. For your business to succeed your family needs to be supportive and respectful of your work schedule.
